FoodWIN searches motivated interns

FoodWIN is looking for enthusiastic and dedicated interns to assist at their Brussels office starting ASAP.

FoodWIN is the European Food Waste Innovation Network supporting European cities to reduce food waste. We envision a Zero Food Waste Europe. We are empowering urban food systems to reduce food waste through concrete actions.

1. Motivated intern communications and project management

The intern will be in charge of daily online communication and will also assist in devising and implementing the communication strategy. In addition, the intern will be assisting the project managers of Zero Food Waste Flanders, a project aimed at reducing food waste in the Flemish region.  In the innovation trajectory that is part of this project we address some of the most urgent challenges, to get the collective intelligence of all stakeholders and motivate innovators working around the topics. The first half of 2017 is dedicated to waste of apples and pears in Flanders. The intern will help to invite the relevant partners to participate on the Food Waste Challenge and to communicate the outcome to the wider audience. The intern will also be helping setting up the learning journey around apples and pears and communicate this event to the public.

Join a team of young professionals dedicated to the fight against food waste. You will be given responsibility and autonomy and you will be able to learn first-hand the daily work of a social enterprise.

Tasks:

  • Manage the social media presence
  • Develop communication materials
  • Assist in devising the communication strategy
  • Assist in event planning
  • Assist in project management in the scope of Zero Food Waste Flanders

Profile

  • Student or young graduate in Communication
  • Experience with social media tools
  • Fluent in English and Flemish both speaking and writing
  • Project management skills
  • Interest in topics related to food waste, sustainable food and/or social entrepreneurship
  • Can-do attitude and self-motivated

  • no financial compensation. Compensation of commuting possible.
  • minimum 2 months, minimum 50% FTE

2. Motivated intern business development and project management

FoodWIN has been collaborating with cities to help them decrease food waste since almost 2 years. The organization now wants to work more proactively with cities throughout Europe to:

  • inform them about possible actions to and impacts of reducing food waste
  • support them to set up strategies and actions on reducing food waste
  • collaborate on implementing projects to reduce food waste

The intern will be assisting the Sales and Partnership Coordinator in order to explore new markets and increase FoodWIN activities with cities.

  • establishing contacts with potential partners
  • reaching out to cities
  • developing marketing and sales material.
  • Sales meetings

Profile

  • Student or young graduate  with a commercial background
  • Fluent in English and French or Dutch
  • Project management skills
  • Experience in managing or setting up projects
  • Interest in topics related to food waste, sustainable food and/or social entrepreneurship
  • Can-do attitude and self-motivated
